Date Of Birth: 28.08.2006
Left-arm spinner, Sipho Potsane, hails from Alexandra Township, North of Johannesburg. Sipho and his dad spent many an afternoon watching the Proteas on TV.
Sipho first picked up a cricket bat and ball at age 10, joining Alex Cricket Club. Just a few short years later he became the first captain to lead the Alex Schools team to the finals of the Montrose Night Series - an under-13 schools tournament.
Since that momentous occasion, Sipho has represented the Gauteng Lions on various levels, earning him a scholarship to Jeppe High School for Boys.
As someone who counts Indian left-arm orthodox spinner Ravindra Jadeja as one of his sporting heroes, Sipho seems to be set for a professional career in cricket himself: Sipho was the top wicket-taker at CSA Cubs Week in 2023 and played for the South African U19 team in the ICC Under 19 Men’s World Cup in 2024.
